Williams River getting some more TLC

Published on Tuesday, 4 March 2025 at 11:04:28 AM

We are excited to be starting our year 2 bank rehabilitation works, downstream of the weir on the Williams River.  The first week of March will see us building on bank rehabilitation we started last summer, as well as more weed control and revegetation efforts.

The Williams River is a special place for our community and it’s all about implementing the 2020 River Action Plan that our community helped develop.  Implementing the plan is a step-by-step process as funding is secured and the result will be incremental improvement in health, habitat, resilience and ecological function of the river environment.

Our Rivers are not in the best health, and as rainfall continues to decline and streamflow even more so, it has never been more important to focus efforts on protecting and restoring our Rivers.

The works will be near a public area (Williams Rest Area), so please take note of any barriers in place so that we can get the work completed!

This project is in partnership with the Wilman (Dryandra) People Corporation and funded through partnerships with Newmont Australia (Boddington) and South32 Worsley Alumina, with in-kind support from the Shire of Williams.
